Forex Trading Styles - Which Forex Style is Best For You?

Author: John Francis

There are two main Forex trading styles in use by most Forex traders. Naturally there are hundreds of variations within each style.

Each Forex trading style has differences, so let's take a look at them in more depth.

Technical Forex trading.

This is based on one of two tools – charts or trading models.

Charting Forex tools use charts or graphs to display past currency movements. This allows an "at a glance" view of the direction the market is taking at any given stage. If you are skilled enough to use charts to work out when the market is turning then you should be able to make money on the Forex market. All the things you can do with graphs in programs such as Excel can be used with your charting. There are software programs out there which will import your data and display the resultant charts. As always with software programs, the results you get are only as good as the programmer and the data. When you change to a new software program you should trade for a while "on paper" until you are confident with the results you are getting. If you decide to use an online Forex software service then you can get deeper into the use of Quantitative Trading Models. If you are using day trading as your main Forex method then you will need to use an online service to make sure that your data is constantly up to date.

Fundamental Forex trading

This is based on the analysis of key economic data.

This data includes reports from various governments, news coverage of current events, interest rate fluctuations, balance of trade figures for the countries involved, inflation rates, retail and trade price indices, future orders, stock levels, company expectations and employment statistics. Other economic data can also affect the view that a fundamentalist Forex trader takes. This often includes changes in political leadership, military skirmishes, terrorist attacks as well as natural disasters.

Ultimately, your choice of trading style will depend on your own temperament and preferences. It will also be affected by whether you are a day trader or are taking a longer term view.

Forex Advice - The Best Trading Advice Is

Author: Sacha Tarkovsky

Your own. Traders who think they can spend $100 on an e-book and buy success from someone else are really mistaken.

The fact is most of the information you need is available free on the net and most sold advice is by writers NOT traders.

Let’s look at how to get the best advice for free.

First things first

If you really want to buy an e-book or system from a vendor check their traders and have a REALTIME track record of success.

The fact is most don’t and rely on the greed and ignorance of people buying their system

If you find, practice and use the free advice on the net you can become a successful trader. The fact you have done it on your own will give you confidence in your method and the discipline to trade it through losing periods

Getting started

You should use a technical based system.

Use charts there are plenty free on the net.

You can read why it works and about all the formations you need to spot profitable opportunities

Get a free chart service.

A good one is futuresource.com. It has all the charts and indicators you will need.

You then need to perfect your method. Use charts to spot the formations and some indicators.

You only need a few to combine with charting (and we have outlined one free in our other articles) The best indicators to use in our view are:

Bollinger bands, stochastics, moving averages and RSI.

You can then test out your skills.

The best methods are simple so make sure yours is to.

The more complicated a system is the more likely it is to break in the brutal world of trading.

Simple systems are easy to understand so you will have confidence if the logic is soundly based and this will give you discipline.

Forget short term or day trading, that’s a mugs game and you will have the odds stacked against you.

Look to use a longer term trading system and base it on a breakout methodology.

Now does that sound too complicated?

Trading is essentially simple and you can do it on your own for free by doing some research the net.

Most e-books and systems sold I have seen never have a real time track record and the systems have no chance of working.

Most of the sold advice is either from writers or traders who have never made money, so why not sell advice?

If you really must buy advice (and we can’t stress this enough) only buy forex advice where you get a real time track record.

If they have not made money out of their system why would you want to trust them?

Some good paid advice

If you want to get some good paid advice visit a bookstore and get some books by traders who have walked the walk and made money.

There not expensive and are packed with valuable forex advice for you to build on your basic trading plan.

Good choices are:

Market Wizards and The New Market Wizards – Jack Schwager

This book interviews a diverse cross selection of traders who have made huge profits and is a very inspiring read

Trader Vic – Victor Sperandeo

Love this book! Packed with insight into how to construct and implement a trading plan.

Covers all the topics you need to know to get your plan off the ground.

Jake Bernstein – The Investors Quotient

Goes in depth to look at human psychology and he has written a lot in this area and its all worth a read

Those three books will cost you around $50.00 or less and are all you need to get started.

The above may sound simple and it is.

If you think about it the only person who can give you success is yourself. So for forex trading advice think about relying on yourself.

Forex Trading - Day Trading, Which Timeframe Is Best?

Author: Nathan Pennington

You're looking for that exact answer. You want me to say, "it's the 10 minute timeframe," but it's not that easy. It depends on what kind of a system you are trading. After you've defined that, the right timeframe becomes obvious.

For example, if your trading a system that doesn't seem to care about the price (yes, such systems exist), very fast timeframes would be appropriate (somewhere in the range of 3 to 5 minute bars). Realize that the faster the timeframe the more chaotic. In fact, there is hardly any order on the really fast bars. It's true chaos.

So, if you were trading a grid trading system or a hedging system, then a really fast timeframe is okay. You don't really care where the price is going. You're not going to be doing any technical analysis on it.

However, if you're trading any kind of system that uses any kind of technical analysis, you definitely want to use a slower timeframe. You need to give the system something to sink its teeth into. The 30 minute chart seems to be a good choice.

Depending on the system, you may need to go larger or smaller. For example, you can use Fibonacci retracements on a 15 minute chart.

If someone were to come up to me and put a gun to my head and ask what is the best timeframe for day trading, I'd have to say that I'd want a 5 minute chart and a 30 minute chart open side-by-side. (Then I'd disarm him and give him the business ;-)

Forex Trading Can Be Another Major Source of Income For The Internet Marketer

Author: Peter Lim

The Internet Marketer is always trying to increase his profitability. He can do this in a variety of ways:

1. Increase price of his products
2. Decrease the cost of doing business
3. Increase the number of his products based on current best selling product lines
4. Eliminate out-of-date inventory such as ebooks that are saturated in the market
5. Find new products or additional sources of income

and many other methods.

If you are an internet marketer, have you ever been asked to look into Forex Trading as another serious line of additional income?

While there are "purist" internet marketers who will not sway from the actual mainstay of marketing online, forex trading can be a lucrative alternative or additional way to make some additional income for many.

Forex trading requires nothing more in terms of infrastructure for the internet marketer as his computer system used for online marketing can be used as the trading station as most trading platforms are now web based.

Capital for trading is no longer an issue as there are forex brokers who allow trading to commence with as little as $25, which is paid from your credit card.

Since there are no commissions to be paid in forex trading, and currency trading is executed 24 hours around the globe across 8 major currencies and many of its derivative currency pairs, there is practically no constraint to the internet marketer to conduct any forex trading, where ever there is an internet connection.

Considering that many currency pairs display recurrent patterns that are easily identified, what is required for the internet marketer is to spend time to learn how to trade these patterns before actually taking the plunge.

What are the dangers to the internet marketer seeking to get involved in forex trading?

Firstly, the forex market can be ruthless if you do not know how to trade or if you start trading before you actually spent time to master trading techniques. Bad trades will quickly deplete your capital. So it is needful to learn from a mentor or a professional trader who is willing to show you the winning techniques. Secondly, you may be a good professional or very successful in some other profession or career, and think the experience will hold you in good stead and that you can very quickly be just as successful- Not so, in forex trading! For example, there are many wonderful doctors and engineers and accountants who are leaders in their fields of expertise who do badly in trading. Why is this so?

While forex trading can be tracked by chart patterns, price movements are always forecasts and are never embossed in stone. It is good for the financial health of the trader to be able to accept that it is not possible to force the market to give him profits, by holding on tightly to forecasts or technical analysis on the direction of any trade. The internet marketer must move into the field of forex trading with a flexible mind that forecasts and analysis are tools and instruments to prognosticate the movements of currencies, and nothing more. My maxim as a trader is simply this: Every trade is a bad trade unless it gives you a good profit!

Do your due diligence before you start off in forex trading. Be prepared to learn about how forex trading is carried out. Find a mentor to cut down the time required to learn proven trading techniques. Get familiar with your trading techniques, paper trade them and when you start to consistently get profits than losses, that is the time to think of actual trading.
